SA Blog Awards – Some creative thoughts
The SA Blog Awards are around the corner and personally I’m looking forward to taking part in the process (voting that is, this blog is no where near a nomination process ;) and seeing the outcome. Miguel has posted info on the awards here, including an updated twitter account ’sablogawards’ for those who can’t make it.
I’m a big fan of Cafe Neo’s and I think it’s a great little venue to kick start the awards. I’ll be there with my humble camcorder and tripod to capture the event as best I can. I usually try to get creative when I film and edit so it should make for a nice little video.
The question I have is this: What would you like to see in the video? I have a few ideas but to start I thought of interviewing a few of the bloggers (CherryFlava, Dave Duarte, Charl Norman, Rafiq etc etc etc) I’m always interested to meet the people and personalities behind the blogs I read and I’m hoping the video will contribute to that. I’ll also capture all the key information so you can sit back and keep track of the happenings.
But besides all of that, does anyone want to see something different? Maybe screenshots of the bloggers? Maybe a few bloopers (if there are any)? Behind the scenes?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to meeting up on Wednesday :)

I think video summations of some of the selected blogs would be a super initiative.
Perhaps combine screenshots, commentary from the blogger, and opinions from other people who read it. The vids would certainly get alot of play if the bloggers you feature post the vids on their blogs.

thanks for the comments Dave. I think opinions from other people who read the various blogs is an awesome idea. Will definitely incorporate that.

Interviews would be a rad idea, and then you could also do some vids on the actual awards night.
P.S. The geek drinks thing was loads of fun last night, very cool indeed! :-)

Thanks Rox, looking forward to the nominations, perhaps I’ll be interviewing you :)

Haha, I wouldn’t count on that happening, but thanks anyway. :-)
Oh ja, that Indian restaurant that I told you about is called Chandani, it’s on Roodebloem Rd in Woodstock.

Would love to do an interview.. If you film bloggers answering some Q’s about their startups/blogs and current pressing web topics it will be a hit.. link bait at its best

Nice one Charl, would dig to interview you. Asking Q’s about pressing web topics might detract from the ‘lightness’ of the interviews. The idea will be to appeal to a wider range of viewer and not just a tech focused audience. That said, there is always room for a question or two, like what people think of a possible merger between Google and Yahoo: Yahoogle!
