Cooliris. FullScreen. 3D.
Cooliris, formerly known as Piclens, transforms your browser into an interactive, full-screen “cinematic” experience for web media. Install the IE, Safari and Firefox compatible plugin and you can view photos and videos in a non-linear 3D X/Y/Z configuration. You can fly through 3D walls of multimedia content at the touch of your arrow keys.
As a visual UI, cooliris is certainly redefining our interaction with search results and content. It is unlikely it will go from a current novelty to a broad consumer requisite anytime soon, but it does point to a unique and inspiring user-centric interface design. You won’t find banner ads, branded UI, or text. Just scores and scores of rich media presented in a manner that changes your perception and interaction with content. As one commentator pointed out: This presents a unique challenge to those of us on the creative side, who marvel at the functionality — yet are stymied by the means in which we can unobtrusively place advertisers adjacent to and within these new interfaces.
Perhaps we should just marvel at the functionality for now.

Hi Jenny,
Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words.
One thing I’ve noticed is the potentially limited ways to interact with content within the interface. I understand its visual emphasis however being able to associate context (and perhaps metadata) to the content would enhance the browsing experience.
Looking forward to seeing what’s next!

I would agree, i would also find myself stopping using the application after a while as it just seems a bit of useless. Nothing else to do. I might be abit ill trained and maybe could have not seen all the featured yet though.
