In keeping with spreading the Firefox love, I’ve taken a screenshot of a list of Firefox Add-ons l find useful and workable. The reason I’m writing this is because I recently found and installed two excellent add-ons that have made my web and multimedia development a joy: Firebug for web development and Fireshot for screenshots.

Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page. Having used Web Developer in the past, I now find Firebug eclipsing its use.
FireShot is a Firefox extension that creates screenshots of web pages. Unlike other extensions, this plugin provides a set of editing and annotation tools, which let users quickly modify captures and insert text and graphical annotations. Such functionality will be especially useful for web designers, testers and content reviewers. It’s possible to choose whether entire web page or only visible part of this page should be captured. Screenshots can be uploaded to server, saved to disk (PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP), copied to clipboard, e-mailed and sent to external editor for further processing.
Other notable add-ons include SearchStatus, StumbleUpon and Tab Mix Plus.

Firebug FTW. ColorPicker is also on of my top favorites. Maybe I’ll give Google Browser Sync a thumbs up too.
Nice on Fox. I haven’t played with ColorPicker or Google Browser Sync yet, shot for the insight and that killer list.
Hey Tristan,
Thanks for the heads up on Fireshot. On a daily basis I have to send clients’ screenshots of key performance and have never found anything beyond the print screen process (archaic I know).
Google Sync is awesome – I use it to pick up where I left off my browsing on another machine.
May I also suggest checking out IE Tab for easy cross browser compatibility testing as well as the web developer toolbar.
Great post, thanks!
Hey Skye, glad I could help. Fireshot will speed up your workflow in a big way. I’ll check out IE Tab. I just wish they could produce a Firebug for IE6!
